In-House Training
The first of our new KeyFact Training Modules can now be downloaded from this website. (The order form follows on from this description of the KeyFact Training Modules below).
The modules are specifically designed to support in-house training and minimise the cost of repetitive training needs.
A unique feature of the modules is that they are written so that anyone can use them to run a training event:
Professional trainers will find they are an essential addition to their resource bank.
Others, with little or no experience of training, will also be able to use this practical and user-friendly material, to facilitate successful training sessions.
Housing and Council Tax Benefits
The first module in the KeyFact series deals with Housing and Council Tax Benefits.
The aim of the module is to ensure participants are equipped to give tenants and homeowners sound information about benefits, and answer basic questions about them. It is not intended for those who need a more detailed knowledge and understanding of Housing and Council Tax Benefits.
Council Tax Benefit is the least claimed of all benefits, while up to 380,000 low-income pensioners fail to claim Housing Benefit worth £760m a year. Unclaimed benefits are often a cause of real hardship and rent arrears.
Once they have attended a workshop, participants will be able to provide straightforward information about and have a broad understanding of Housing and Council Tax Benefits.
Using the Modules
The modules support small bite-sized training sessions and are equally useful for longer events such as half day events.

Guidance notes on using the modules to run various types of training event.
Fact sheets with key information about Housing and Council Tax Benefits.
Material that provides practical approaches to understanding both Benefits.
The modules are an economic approach to meeting the training needs of those who need a general understanding of Housing and Council Tax Benefits. They can be used, for example, to meet the needs of generic housing officers with rent arrears responsibilities, advice and housing welfare staff, tenant participation officers and receptionists.
The modules are also suitable for awareness sessions for committee members / councillors and tenants' representatives.
Ordering the Modules
To order a copy of the Housing and Council Tax Benefits KeyFact Training Module, please complete the order form below and submit it online.
The cost of the module is £240.00 + VAT of £42 = £282 (payable to our partner organisation - Word Smiths), which includes the download and hard copies.
Please note:
If you pay via PayPal, a confirmation invoice will be sent to you.
You can also pay by cheque on receipt of an invoice.
If you are a social landlord or other recognised organisation, you will receive guidance on downloading a copy of the module and a hardcopy will also be sent to you by post. Other clients will be sent their module (download and hardcopy) on receipt of payment.
Every effort is made to ensure that the material included in KeyFact Training Modules is accurate but no responsibility is taken by UK Housing Ltd or Word Smiths for any errors.
KeyFact Training Modules can be used by a purchasing organisation within their organisation. Using the material in another organisation is not permitted.
Material in KeyFact Training Modules can be copied/reproduced for use within the purchasing organisation but must not be released outside of it.
If you are not satisfied that the above is a fair reflection of a module, we will accept its return, and, in the event you have pre-paid, arrange for a refund.
