Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG)

The remit of the DCLG includes housing, urban regeneration, planning and local government. The housing section of the website provides information on policy, current issues, research, consultation papers, etc. Other associated sections cover a range of subject areas, including building regulations, community building and equality. Links are provided, both to internal and external sites.

Housing Corporation

The Housing Corporation is responsible for funding new affordable housing and regulating housing associations in England. The website provides information on associations, regulating, research, publications, investing, good practice and tenant empowerment. There is also useful advice on finding a home in the social and affordable housing sectors, including key worker accommodation.

Housing Ombudsman Service (HOS)

HOS is responsible for investigating complaints made about housing associations and registered private sector landlords. Downloads provided on the website include complaint forms, annual reports, casework reports and guidance notes. There is also a section dedicated to the private sector Tenancy Deposit Scheme, which was piloted by the HOS.

Local Government Ombudsman

The Local Government Ombudsman investigates complaints about councils and certain other bodies. The website provides information on how to make a complaint and training for dealing effectively with complaints, as well as guidance notes for advisers. It also houses a comprehensive collection of report summaries, arranged by subject and date published.

Race Equality Foundation

The Race Equality Foundation is a national race equality charity. working to improve services for black and minority ethnic communities in the social housing sector. We publish Better Housing Briefing papers, organise conferences and other events and disseminate good practice. Our website provides details of our research, development and training projects.
