St Mungo's announced the shock news of the sudden death of its Chief Executive, Steve Douglas CBE. He passed away suddenly at his home on Sunday morning.

The 57-year-old had worked in the housing sector for more than 25 years and was a former Housing Corporation boss and founder of consultant Altair.

Steve Douglas joined St Mungo's as its Chief Executive in July 2020. He was a driving force for change within the charity and was a lead stakeholder in the formation of the Kerslake Commission - designed to achieve long term benefits and policy change to support those experiencing homelessness and rough sleeping.

He was awarded a CBE in the 2019 Queen's honours list for services to housing and had been committed to driving positive change within the organisation and was particularly committed to diversity and inclusion improvements.
