The Housing, Communities and Local Government committee has published its report 'England's Homeless Children: The Crisis in Temporary Accommodation'.
The committee considered evidence which addresses the issue of families living in temporary housing and the harmful effects on children, as well as the escalating costs for local authorities.
The report concludes that many temporary accommodation placements are unsuitable for families, with hazards such as severe damp and mould, excessive cold, and pest infestations.
It highlights the effects of overcrowding, including tragically that in the past five years overcrowding in temporary accommodation has been a contributing factor in the deaths of at least 74 children.
