Welsh Government: Further reading

An additional £10 million has been made available by the Welsh Government to help kickstart the development of new affordable housing schemes across Wales.

This will be used to support the delivery of additional homes, contributing towards the Welsh Government's target of 20,000 new low carbon social homes for rent in the social sector during this Senedd term.

It will also support homes approved and started in 2025-26 and completed in the next Senedd term.

Boosted funding announced for additional affordable and social homes

Posted 12.02.25
GOV.UK: Further reading

The government has announced a £300 million boost to the Affordable Homes Programme to support the building of up to 2,800 extra homes. Half of these homes will be for social rent.

Over 250 more council homes will be built through a £50 million boost to the Local Authority Housing Fund.

The government also advised that changes will be introduced to crack down on exploitative behaviour by rogue and criminal supported housing landlords, who are claiming uncapped housing benefit in return for providing squalid homes for the most vulnerable.
