The UK's largest affordable housing provider, Clarion Housing, is set to become a pioneer of a major new pan-European initiative which promotes sustainability.

Clarion is the first housing association in the country to adopt the newly developed Certified Sustainable Housing Label.

The label incorporates 30 social and green indicators and mirrors the principles developed by the United Nations that have become the benchmark goals for impact investing.

Through the initiative Clarion will be better placed to benchmark its performance in the sustainability field against other affordable providers across Europe.

The label could also help to attract a broader range of investors, particularly those with a requirement for 'positive impact' investment.
