£40 million secured for regeneration of north west Glasgow

Queens Cross Housing Association has secured £40 million funding from M&G Investments for ambitious plans to transform the Hamiltonhill area of Glasgow into a new urban 'suburb'.

Queens Cross is to build 300 affordable homes for rent on the site just north of the City Centre. This will be complemented with a further 300 new build homes for sale.

As part of the development this investment will deliver new park and green space along with community and commercial developments that will transform long-term vacant and derelict land.

The association is currently in discussion with a range of developers to progress the project.


Salix Homes to feature in new TV documentary on housing crisis

Salix Homes is to feature in a new BBC One daytime series, shining a spotlight on Britain's empty homes crisis.

In the five part series, Matt Allwright goes on a journey to seek out the UK's empty homes, on a mission to help pair them with people who desperately need somewhere to live and change their lives for the better.

Salix Homes' projects featured in the series include the former Star Inn pub in Eccles, which has stood empty since last orders were called in 2015, but has now been converted into six apartments.

The series, called The Empty Housing Scandal, airs on Monday, 11 February on BBC One at 9.15am. The five episodes will run each morning for the entire week.
