Training is at the heart of Sustainable Homes. We have over ten years of experience in delivering training on sustainability in the housing and construction sector.
Our trainers are leaders in their field and include accredited assessors for the Code for Sustainable Homes, SAP and the National Home Energy Rating (NHER).

Our prime training event is the four-day Code for Sustainable Homes Assessor Training, which is run several times during the year.
The course is designed to qualify people to undertake assessments of newly constructed domestic properties under the Code for Sustainable Homes.
The Code for Sustainable Homes covers nine categories of sustainable design, including Energy and CO2 Emissions, Water, Materials, Surface Water Run-off, Waste, Pollution, Heath and Wellbeing, Management and Ecology.
In the first two days, delegates gain an understanding of the methodology and background to each category. Practical workshops mean they get to practice using and are familar with key parts of the Code for Sustainable Homes technical guide.
The third day allows them to practice use of the Code for Sustainable Homes software that they will be using when carrying out live assessments. Delegates are guided through calculating an assessment and using the online reporting tool.
On the final day delegates will receive further guidance on the assessment process and there is plenty of time to ask questions.
The day also involves two multiple-choice, open book exams. The first focuses on knowledge of the Code for Sustainable Homes technical guide. The second exam test knowledge of the Code for Sustainable Homes software.
Here is a typical comment from a past delegate on the course - "The course made it seem less scary and achievable, whereas before achieving Code 3 felt an impossible task." - Rebecca Bell, The Design Partnership.
