A report from Generation Rent calls for further support to ensure private renters are able to stay safely in their homes.

Coronavirus has hit the nation's finances and the report highlights how private renters have been disproportionately affected.

It accepts that the government has so far strengthened the safety net in an effort to protect renters incomes, but arrears have trebled.

Over 120,000 families are in debt and things could get worse before they get better, as the furlough scheme is wound down and the economy contracts.
