Newark and Sherwood District Council: Further reading
Newark and Sherwood Homes (NSH) was set up by Newark and Sherwood District Council 15 years ago, in order to secure national funding to improve council houses.
That has led to an impressive programme of improvements to council houses.
However, the original rationale for having a separate housing management company no longer applies and the Council's Policy and Finance Committee is being asked to support a proposal to consult with tenants on ending the company and bringing the management of council housing back into the council.
Following a review undertaken by an independent adviser, it is expected that this change will save at least £1 million per year.
After allowing for inflation this means additional available resources, estimated at £40 million over the next 30 years, will be re-invested in new council homes and frontline services.
