Peabody has signed an agreement with Ealing Council to deliver around 500 homes over the next five years in Southall, West London.
As well as the new homes, the development - known as 'The Green' - will include a substantial area of commercial space. Half the homes will be affordable, with 145 due to be 'affordable rent' - including social rent, and the rest for shared ownership.
The development will also include high-quality public spaces, and will link to Southall station, which is due to be joined to Central London via the new Crossrail line.
It is hoped the new scheme will provide around 260 jobs.

Housebuilder Bovis Homes has joined forces with The Riverside Group, to deliver more than 1,800 new homes at Stanton Cross in Wellingborough.
The 50:50 Joint Venture will see Bovis Homes' 'Northern Home Counties' region deliver the homes on behalf of the partnership - with delivery of a wider scheme to continue over the next 10 to 15 years.
The properties will be a mix of homes available on the open market and some that will be designated as affordable housing.
The full mixed-use Stanton Cross development will eventually see a total of 3,650 new homes being built.
It will also include more than 1.5m sq ft of industrial, leisure, retail and office space - and provide more than 3,000 jobs.

A new strategy to tackle South Cambridgeshire's housing challenges has been approved by the District Council - with an emphasis on providing homes that are affordable for local workers.
The Council's Cabinet has approved the Greater Cambridge Housing Strategy - a joined-up document with Cambridge City Council that looks at how both authorities aim to meet housing challenges across the area from now up until 2023.
One of the main goals of the strategy is to ensure there are enough energy efficient, affordable to run homes that are close to where people work and public transport.
Through the new housing strategy, South Cambridgeshire District Council has also committed to working to bring forward the right homes for the area's ageing population.
Additionally, the Council has committed to working with developers to help them find ways to make it viable to deliver affordable housing requirements.
