Liverpool Mutual Homes (LMH) has appointed Warrington-based Lane End Developments to deliver its 170-home mixed use development on Westhead Avenue, Kirkby.

Work can now begin on the site after planning permission was granted in November.

The £20+ million investment will transform a disused brown-field site into high quality housing and supported living for some of the area's elderly and vulnerable people.

Expected to complete in 2019, Westhead Avenue will offer 100 one and two-bed extra care apartments, with around-the-clock support to meet residents' individual needs.

There will also be 16 supported housing units, 54 homes for affordable rent and Rent to Buy - a new tenure for potential future home-owners - a communal sensory garden and a range of on-site amenities, including a bistro and hairdressers.
