Two housing estates in Salford are the first to benefit from the services of a new in-house team at Salix Homes.

The works mark the first improvement schemes to be carried out by Salix Homes' own teams, using construction experts and specialist tradespeople from its Repairs and Maintenance Team.

Around two years ago, Salix Homes launched a new repairs service to replace the use of external contractors, meaning all repair operatives are employed directly through the organisation.

Salix Homes has a £38 million investment programme to improve 2,900 homes across the Salford.

Richmondshire District Council is working with field service management specialist Kirona to improve remote working and productivity for its landlord services team who are responsible for the maintenance and repairs of rented properties.

Kirona is providing the Council with a configured version of their Dynamic Resource Scheduler and Job Manager Software to support mobile workers in scheduling appointments remotely, updating tasks on the move and enabling them to respond to calls more efficiently.

Richmondshire District Council chose to work with Kirona because of their proven record integrating with Northgate's Housing and Repairs System.

The software will enable the Council to optimise the time of the entire technical officer workforce within the Landlord Services Department.

A representative from the Council, said: "By working with Kirona and using their suite of scheduling and mobile working products, we're expecting to greatly improve the efficiency of our Landlord Services Team and the level of service our customers receive."
