Catalyst Gateway, the community development arm of Catalyst, has been awarded £10,000 to help support the 'Right Trax' project, developed in partnership with Reading Borough Council and Auto Skills Reading.
'Right Trax' will be an early intervention initiative for young people between the ages of 8 and 16, providing them with new opportunities that could open up training, life skills and careers.
Participants will get the chance to take part in mechanics skills training and workshops on safer driving.
The project will help those who are not in employment, education or training (NEETs) - as well as their families, helping to make sure the young people are fully supported.
Catalyst Gateway has been able to build a strong, partnership-focused plan for youth work in the Reading area by consulting with local young people and their families, checking with customer census data and asking colleagues for their knowledge.
