Orbit, one of the UK's largest developing housing associations, is expanding its affordable home ownership offer thanks to £4.6 million funding from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA).
Awarded through the HCA's Shared Ownership and Affordable Homes Programme, the £4,620,000 funding will support the delivery of 154 new affordable home ownership properties.
With an 86% rise in the number of shared ownership homes it sold last year, Orbit is seeing a continued demand for the part buy, part rent product. The majority of the HCA funding will be used for the development of 129 shared ownership homes across the Midlands, East and South East.

2017 will see the first Starter Homes being built on brownfield sites across the country, Housing Minister Gavin Barwell has confirmed (3 January 2017).
They will be built exclusively for first-time buyers between 23 and 40 years old at a discount of at least 20% below market value.
The first wave of 30 local authority partnerships - selected on the basis of their potential for early delivery - will spearhead schemes.
These partnerships have been established under the Government's £1.2 billion Starter Homes Land Fund which supports the development of starter homes on sites across England.
