This statistical release provides information on the number of households that reported being homeless (or threatened with homelessness) to their local authority and were offered housing assistance.
It shows that:
Local authorities accepted 14,930 households as being statutorily homeless between 1 July and 30 September 2016, down 1% on the previous quarter and up 2% on the same quarter of last year.
These are households that are owed a main homelessness duty to secure accommodation as a result of being unintentionally homeless and in priority need.
