The giant China National Building Material Company (CNBM) has struck a £2.75 billion joint venture with Your Housing Group (YHG) and renewable energy specialist Welink to open six housebuilding factories in the UK, capable of producing 25,000 homes a year.
The joint venture will also be a platform to engage with other Local Authorities and Housing Associations as partners to help solve their housing market needs.
A key element of the partnership also sees support for local businesses by developing supply and delivery chains that source materials and labour locally to proposed developments.
Brian Cronin, CEO of Your Housing Group, commented:
"YHG is committed to providing innovative solutions to address the availability crisis which affects the housing sector in the UK today. Therefore, as one of the UK's largest housing associations, with over 20 years' experience of housing management and operations, we are delighted to be part of this ground-breaking joint venture.
"This is an opportunity for YHG to get back to building more social and affordable homes across a wider geography of the UK, it also ensures new types of employment, new building skills, and the nurturing of additional apprenticeship opportunities are available, which can only be good news for local people and businesses where we develop our housing and supply chains."

Glasgow City Council's Executive Committee has approved the disposal of 16 sites across the City to provide social housing.
Areas in Glasgow that will benefit from this decision include Baillieston, Barlanark, Bridgeton, Castlemilk, Cranhill, Drumchapel, Easterhouse, Kelvinbridge, Milton, Partick, Pollokshaws, Royston, Shettleston, and Springburn.
The council will now negotiate with a number of housing associations on terms of the disposal of these unoccupied sites, some of which are cleared and some which still contain buildings to be demolished.
Approximately 750 new homes will be built and it is expected that their construction will generate £60 million of economic activity.
Councillor Frank McAveety, Leader of Glasgow City Council, said:
"This is fantastic news for the City, providing social housing in communities all across Glasgow as these sites are developed.
"The Council's decision will help to deliver the new homes that we need as our population increases and changes, and also make a £60 million boost to Glasgow's economy.
"This work will create new jobs in the construction industry for local people."
