Leadership on Housing Delivery Recognised by Government

Ashford Borough Council's strength in delivering affordable housing in the borough has been given national recognition by central government.

It has been declared 'Housing Business Ready' under a tailored programme, which is funded by and delivered collaboratively between the Housing Finance Institute (HFI) and the South East Local Enterprise Partnership. Indeed, it is the first authority in the south east to be awarded this prestigious status.

Being 'Housing Business Ready' recognises the way in which Ashford not only covers its statutory responsibilities with regards to affordable housing provision but:

The Elphicke-House Report in 2015 acknowledged the Council's proactive approach in delivering homes across all tenures, successfully bidding for HCA funding to continue its affordable homes building programme, and using the opportunities of Housing Revenue Account self-financing to deliver much needed affordable housing.
