Growing Older Together: An overview of collaborative forms of housing for older people

This Housing LIN case study paper highlights how collaborative models of service delivery for older people are now being widely adopted in the heath and care sectors and it argues that providers of housing for older people should do more to embrace collaborative approaches.

The Housing LIN has been pioneering this kind of thinking for some time and the User Involvement and Co-production section of the its website contains an expanding range of reports, case studies and viewpoints.

The overview consolidates and adds to this work. It contains nine new case examples ranging from; place-based collaborative 'ways of living'; through existing schemes in which residents have taken over ownership and management; to ground breaking new developments, many of which are self-developed and/or co-produced.

The overview argues that there many different ways of realising collaborative housing for older people. It concludes with a series of ideas and proposals for promoting and developing collaborative housing on a much larger scale to meet the rapidly changing priorities and expectations of future generations of older people.
