TAROE Threatened with Closure

Posted 11.11.15

The following letter is being sent by Michael Gelling, Chair of the Tenants' and Residents' Organisations of England (TAROE), to the organisation's members.

As you know there are two TAROE Organisations; TAROE Company Ltd and TAROE Charity.

I am writing to inform you that TAROE Company Limited has found it very difficult to secure funding to keep the Company operating after the 31st March 2016 and if nothing materialises over the next couple of months, notice will have to be given to staff.

As volunteers we could continue but we cannot do that without paid office support for what we do.

TAROE Charity will continue to exist but we are not certain for how much longer, as the Charity depends on Charitable Donations.

We are informing you of this as we do not wish to just close down without any warning.

If there are people or organisations who believe they may have a solution, we want to here from you as soon as possible, as we do not wish to lose an organisation that has never been more needed by tenants in our sector, than now.

I am sorry to be the bringer of such bad news but we have found it very difficult to fund our activities over the past five years without any core funding which was withdrawn by the last Government.
