The Government needs to tighten up the rules now
Right to Buy fraud cases more than doubled last year according to a new report just published by the European Institute for Combating Fraud and Corruption (31.07.15). Chartered Institute of Housing Chief Executive Terrie Alafat says some simple measures could help tackle the problem.
The measures proposed not only aim to tackle outright fraud but also the growing number of cases which are not necessarily fraudulent but are also not in keeping with the intentions of Right to Buy.
The article calls for the rules to be tightened up now and notes the possibility of further problems if the Right to Buy is extended to housing associations.
