Subject to Parliamentary approval, new rules will come into force on 15 October 2015 that require private landlords to meet new regulations on smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.

The new requirements will not apply to housing associations. However, the Government has made it clear that the sector needs to be aware of the changes and meets the new standards where possible.
