This month, two major stock transfers were completed.
On 16 March, Gloucester Council transferred 4,400 homes to Gloucester City Homes. The move will lead to £110 million additional investment in city homes over the next 30 years.
The transfer will lead to 100 new social homes available for rent for local families - the first built in the City for 25 years - as well as central government writing off millions of pounds of housing debt.
On 23 March Salford Council transferred 8,500 homes to Salix Homes. The first phase of an ambitious improvement programme will start in April, with 2,200 homes set to undergo improvements - including new kitchens and bathrooms.
Salix Homes, which now becomes a not-for-profit registered provider, has promised to invest a total of £75 million in homes and communities over the next five years.
