Scott Named 'One To Watch' At Prestigious Governance Awards

Posted 17.11.14

A housing association assistant has been named the 'One to Watch' at a prestigious awards ceremony for governance professionals.

Scott Brooker, a Company Secretariat Assistant with Sovereign Housing Association, received his recognition at the recent Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA) Excellence in Governance Awards, the first time someone from the housing sector has claimed this award.

The event, hosted at the Brewery in London by former MP and television personality Gyles Brandreth, attracted more than 600 governance professionals from across the UK and Ireland.

The 'One to Watch' category was open to those in a company secretarial role in the early stages of their career who demonstrate high impact in managing tasks and activities and who contribute to overall success and performance of the organisation they work for.

Scott, aged 23, lives in Chandlers Ford in Hampshire and works at Sovereign's head office in Newbury. He was shortlisted against four other candidates, all of whom work for companies listed on the FTSE 250 index.

Scott said:

"To be recognised at such an early stage in my career is something I am very proud of, especially considering the calibre of candidates I was up against.

"I couldn't have done it alone, though, and I'd like to thank my managers for supporting and encouraging me to take on greater responsibilities."
