Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) members have elected Geraldine Howley as the organisation's new Vice President.
Mrs Howley, who is Chief Executive of Bradford-based housing group Incommunities, was up against Elaine Gibson, Director of Ayrshire housing association ANCHO, and Jim Strang, Chief Executive of Parkhead Housing Association in Glasgow.
Geraldine Howley will become Vice President for 2014/15 at the CIH Annual General Meeting on 14 May, and is expected to take up the role of President in 2015.
The current Vice President Steve Stride is due to become the CIH President on 14 May.

Southdown Appoints New Chief Executive
Southdown Housing Association announced the appointment of Neil Blanchard to the role of Chief Executive Officer. He starts as CEO with immediate effect.
Neil Blanchard previously Acting Chief Executive at Southdown and was formerly an Executive Director of Operations there, a role he filled for 12 years at Southdown.
