Communities Secretary Eric Pickles has announced (3 January 2014) that the Government will take further steps to reinvigorate the Right to Buy in 2014, with the aim of assisting more tenants to buy their home:
The maximum discount for a house will increase from 60% to 70% of its value.
Revenue from additional sales will be ploughed back into delivering new affordable homes for rent.
Right to Buy was introduced by the Housing Act 1980. How many council homes were there sold in the first two years following enactment?
