Higher Earners to Pay More Rent for Social Housing

The Government has published a summary of responses to its consultation on Pay to Stay proposals to charge higher rents to social tenant households on high incomes.

It confirms a household income threshold of £60,000 per year, which is likely to affect about 21,000 social tenanted households. The Government says it will consider all the issues raised in the consultation and recognises that there are some specific issues still to be addressed in implementing the policy, such as 'how income is to be defined'.
