Paul Tennant has been confirmed as President of the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH), following the organisation's Annual General Meeting.
Paul Tennant, who is Chief Executive of housing group Orbit and has been CIH Vice President for the past 12 months, takes over the role from Robin Lawler.
He said:
"I'm going to be making leadership, ethics and professional standards the key themes of my presidency - all of which are more important than ever before as housing faces some of its toughest times to date.
"But my absolute number one priority - as it has been as Vice President - will be getting out and talking to members, listening to their views about what they want from CIH now and in the future."
The incoming president chosen the Child Poverty Action Group as his 'presidential charity of the year', which campaigns to end child poverty and for a better deal for low-income families and children.
Steve Stride, Chief Executive of housing association Poplar HARCA, was elected as the new Vice President by CIH members last month and his appointment was also confirmed.
