New Family Homes for Darlington

Work to improve existing council homes and provide new housing for rent and sale in the Cockerton area of Darlington has been officially opened after getting the go-ahead from Darlington Council's Planning Department.
The project has so far funded refurbishment works to 142 council homes. The next major phase of works now approved by planners will see £6 million invested in the development of new housing in the area.
Planning permission has been granted by to construction company Esh Group for the demolition of 76 one- and two-bedroom council flats and a small number of family homes to make way for 84 new family homes.
The majority of the 84 new homes will be available for rent from Endeavour Housing Association and the remainder for sale.

Stevenage Council Completes on First Council Owned Homes in Nearly 30 Years

Stevenage Borough Council celebrated the completion of a groundbreaking deal to purchase 21 new homes which will be rented to local families and young people in need of affordable accommodation.
The 6.39 acre site on Hertford Road will comprise nine, three bedroom, houses and 12, one and two bedroom, apartments and represents the first new homes to be owned, rented and managed by the Council in nearly 30 years.
The development, which has a gross value of around £10 million, is the result of a deal struck between Logic Stevenage LLP, a joint venture housing consortium which specialises in mixed tenure housing, and Stevenage Borough Council.
The land was provided from the Homes and Communities Agency as part of a partnership project, which will deliver 100 new homes in total - 24 for private sale and the remainder as affordable rent and intermediate housing.
