Transparency in Housing Associations

The National Housing Federation (NHF) has produced a briefing for members on transparency in the social housing sector.

The briefing gives a short overview of the context to these issues and highlights some ways in which NHF member associations and others are upholding commitments to transparency.

The NHF comments:

"The housing association sector has led the way in greater transparency in the conduct of business, through initiatives such as the publication of Chief Executives' salaries many years before this became common practice in other sectors.

"Renewed interest in the principles of transparency, openness and accountability has led to an increase in attention towards issues such as publishing expenditure and tenant scrutiny."
