Appointees to HCA Committee Announced

Communities Secretary Eric Pickles has announced the appointees to the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) committee which will regulate the social housing sector.

Along with Chair Julian Ashby, they are:

The HCA regulatory committee will provide economic regulation, monitoring social landlords' governance and viability, from 1 April, following the abolition of the Tenant Services Authority.

Committee members will carry out two days of work a month and be paid an annual fee of £11,000. The Chair will be paid between £50,000 and £70,000 a year.

The Chair has been appointed for three years, while the other committee members will initially serve for one year.


CIH Appoints New Chief Executive

The Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) has announced the appointment of Grainia Long as its new Chief Executive. Grainia, who has been interim CEO since last August, will take up the post immediately.

Helen Collins, Chair of the Governing Board, said that Grainia had impressed the panel with her vision for housing. Helen said:

"We are facing immediate and unprecedented housing pressures that require a cool headed approach and practical solutions and felt that Grainia is well placed to meet these challenges."


NHF Appoints New Assistant Director

The National Housing Federation has appointed Stuart Ropke as its Interim Assistant Director of Research and Futures.

Currently Head of Investment Policy and Strategy, Stuart Ropke will take on the interim post when Gavin Smart leaves at the end of March for his new role as Director of Policy and practice at the Chartered Institute of Housing.
