Housing Benefit and Beyond: Housing policy directions and the impact in Wales
25 January 2011 - The Quay Hotel, Degannwy

Housing Benefit is a crucial part of the support provided to low income households, whether they are in or out of work. It also guards against homelessness, supports mixed communities and helps the building of affordable homes for the future.

The reforms to Housing Benefit announced in the recent budget have caused widespread concern and the potential impacts on tenants of social and private rented housing have been widely discussed within and outside of the sector.

This one day event will review the Housing Benefit reforms and give delegates the opportunity to hear from expert practitioners on the potential implications for individuals and housing organisations.

It will also outline what social landlords can be doing to help prepare for the "storm" that's brewing. It will set the changes in the context of wider reforms to the welfare system and housing policy more generally, both at a UK and Wales level.

Speakers will give their views on the current direction of travel for social housing and the impact of the Comprehensive Spending Review and devolved budgets on the sector.

Speakers range from leading housing professionals and practitioners, senior WAG officials and legal experts.

NHMF Maintenance Conference
25th & 26th January - The Holiday Inn, Stratford upon Avon.

The conference will be addressing how to manage risk and regulation in the light of the changes in government.

Retrofit and the sustainability agenda are important areas where sufficient research has been carried out to begin to deliver real data which can be used to shape sensible strategy for the future.

Procurement remains a very important area and sessions will include explanation of the revised NHF Schedule of Rates.
