Pat Ritchie Appointed Chief Executive of Homes and Communities Agency

The Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) chairman Robert Napier announced the appointment of Pat Ritchie as its new Chief Executive.

Currently the HCA's Director for the North East, Pat Ritchie will now lead the Agency through a significant period of change, including development of its continuing role as a smaller, enabling and investment organisation.

She takes up her new role as of 1 November and will remain in post until a permanent appointment is made next year. She replaces Sir Bob Kerslake who moves to be Permanent Secretary at CLG.

The HCA Board decided to recruit a Chief Executive from the pool of internal candidates whose detailed understanding of the operation and aspirations of the Agency would ensure a swift transfer of responsibilities and maintain business momentum.

TSA Chief Peter Marsh Stands Down

Peter Marsh has announced that he will be standing down as Chief Executive Officer of the Tenant Services Authority (TSA).

The TSA is due to be abolished with its regulatory function being taken over by the Homes and Communities Agency by 2012.

Mr Marsh said:

"It has been a tremendous honour to lead the TSA since its inception. I am proud of our work on developing the new standards for social housing and our oversight of the financial health of the housing association sector throughout the recession.

"I am pleased that in concluding its review of social housing regulation, the Government remains committed to retaining those standards and preserving our economic regulatory role within a reformed Homes and Communities Agency.

"In light of the rescoping of our consumer regulation role and having served at the Housing Corporation and the TSA for six years, I have agreed with the Board that now is the right time for me to step down to allow others to manage the reintegration process."
