Doncaster Council tenants are being reminded that having their gas or solid fuel fire serviced each year is essential.
The free service is carried out by housing organisation, St Leger Homes of Doncaster - the ALMO that manages around 21,000 homes for Doncaster Council.
The ALMO writes to tenants with a date for the service - a type of 'MOT' for fires - and fully trained gas or solid fuel staff call at the tenants' homes to carry it out. While at the property, staff also ensure the tenant's smoke alarm is working properly.
Andy Rowe, of St Leger Homes of Doncaster, said:
"Tenants are our number one priority and this free service ensures their fires are working properly.
"Should a tenant receive an appointment time that is unsuitable, they should ring our service team to alter the date."
