Reduction in Homelessness Figures

New national statistics show that 10,360 households were accepted as homeless by local authorities between July to September 2009. This was a 28% reduction compared to the same time last year.

At the same time, the number of those in temporary homes has also decreased by 21% - the largest year on year decrease since 2004. There are now 56,920 households in temporary accommodation, with almost 90% of those being housed in self-contained accommodation.
