Conference Snapshots

A conference programmed for early December by Homeless Link is concerned with developing support for people who have needs that are complex and multi-faceted. Often they fall just under the threshold for services and do not fit easily into conventional treatment patterns. They cross between drug and alcohol services, homelessness provision, prison, mental health services and acute health services. This conference is an opportunity for service providers, from across the four different sectors of criminal justice, substance misuse, homelessness and mental health, to feed in their views and share solutions and approaches to improving the lives of this client group. Making Every Adult Matter Conference: 2 December: London

The future of housing investment is at the top of everyone's agenda North of the border. The Scottish Government has been developing proposals that were first suggested in Firm Foundations and a major consultation on these proposalsis being launched. This joint Conference from the Scottish Government and CIH Scotland will be an early opportunity to form first views on the proposals and to feed into the consultation process. Stewart Maxwell MsP, Minister for Communities and Sport, will be addressing this Conference. Affordable Housing: What Next for the Sector: 9 December: Edinburgh.

With the creation of the Homes and Communities Agency and significant changes to the regulatory regime, identifying ways to improve, promote and mainstream diversity is now a critical part of ensuring that all tenants and residents are provided with equal and fair access to services. This Capita conference aims to provide the latest information and guidance on the impact the Equality Bill is likely to have on every day working and how this may affect statutory requirements in the future. It also offers an opportunity to look at a range of key issues, such as encouraging tenant participation and engaging with diverse groups.
