Rivers (Hillock) Housing Association in Whitefield will longer exist as a separate housing association after being 'de-registered'.
The Association, which was set up in 1999, has over 800 properties under its control. Until now it has been a subsidiary of Contour Housing Group.
Rivers (Hillcock) HA was 'de-registered' with the Housing Corporation on 3 October and has become an integral part of Contour Homes rather than a subsidiary. Contour Homes is one of the largest housing associations in the North West, with over 10,000 properties under its ownership and management.
Joanne McCabe from Contour Homes said:
"During the last year the Rivers Board has been reviewing its achievement and looking at its future role, to consider the best way of delivering services to its customers. As a result, the Board recommended that Rivers ceases to exist as a separate housing association.
"The changes will see savings in terms of reduced administration costs. Residents won't see any changes, apart from the name of their landlord.
"We also intend to establish a new Estate Committee, which will be made up of local tenants and residents, local ward Councillors and community representatives to provide an informal, flexible and accessible forum for people to get involved."
The homes were transferred from Manchester City Council to Rivers and since then has benefited from a £30,000 investment to bring the housing stock up to the Decent Homes Standard required by Government.
The Housing Corporation met with representatives of the board of Novas Scarman Group to advise them that it has instituted an independent inquiry into the affairs of the Group. The inquiry will investigate aspects of the financial management of the Group.
The Corporation appointed Philip Rego and Simon Bevan, both Partners of BDO Stoy Hayward, to conduct the inquiry. They are empowered to receive any information or documents that they believe may be relevant to the inquiry. At the end of the inquiry they will report to the Corporation's Board.
