How important are decent management systems to delivering Decent Homes? That's the question computer software specialists Delcam are hoping to answer through a major survey of UK social housing organisations.
Delcam has commissioned Tribal Consulting to survey around 250 organisations involved in major home improvement programmes to find out if their existing methods of planning, managing and reporting on performance are up to the job.
John Stuttard, Director at Tribal Consulting, who is leading on the project said:
Around 250 RSLs and ALMOs will be invited to take part in the survey during February. The results will be shared with all participating organisations and will form the basis of two seminars taking place in London in March and in Stockport in May."The best performing RSLs and ALMOs usually have invested time at the outset in properly structured systems that link all aspects of the programme together and which can be accessed not only by themselves but their contractors.
"Others however, still rely on a myriad of stand alone paper-based reporting systems which are totally inappropriate for managing a multi million pound, publicly funded, improvement programme.
"We are interested in finding out, for example, how performance information is collected from construction partners, how this helps maintain an up-to-date stock condition database and the effort required to produce meaningful and accurate management reports, audit responses and performance indicators."
Delcam plc was formed in 1977. The PS-Team division was set up in 2001 to specialise in the development and delivery of web-based project collaboration software and specialises in providing programme management solutions to social housing organisations.
