Transfer Update

The transfer of 217 homes in Maukinhill, Greenock from Inverclyde Council to Cloch Housing Association was given the green light by Communities and Sport Minister, Stewart Maxwell.

Following the approval, Cloch Housing Association, an existing registered social landlord with a track record in both developing and managing housing, will begin a programme of demolition and building new homes for people in the area.

Communities Scotland will provide around £15 million to support the programme to build 191 new 'front and back door' homes. These will include 14 new Homestake homes for owner-occupiers whose properties will also be demolished in the regeneration of the area. In addition, 22 new homes for rent will be built, to ensure that everyone in Maukinhill has the opportunity to benefit from a new home.

The Minister's approval followed acceptance of the business proposals for the transfer, which received a 98% vote in favour by tenants.
