Swansea Council was close to consulting with tenants on plans to transfer its housing stock to a new community housing mutual - with £371 million promised on repairs and improvements in the scheme's first decade.
The new not-for-profit organisation set up by the Council is seen as the best way of providing tenants with good quality, well managed, well maintained, and affordable homes that meet the Welsh Housing Quality Standard.
Swansea Council's Cabinet will be asked to consider the name Tawe Housing for the new community housing mutual that would own and manage Swansea's council homes if tenants vote in favour of the proposal.
If approved, the next stage will be to gain formal approval from the Welsh Assembly Government and the views of the Shadow Board of the new organisation before finalising the offer.
Around 100 Cornish housing tenants swapped landlords in a bid to gain better services locally. Households in Restormel, Caradon, North Cornwall, and Penwith agreed to move from Sovereign Housing Group to Devon & Cornwall Housing Group after extensive consultation.
Sovereign Housing initiated the move, and managing director Paul Crawford said: "We provide homes in more than 50 districts across the south and south west, and it's important that each resident has easy access to extra help and support.
"Our Cornish tenants have been served well from our Plymouth office, but when we asked them, a third said they wanted closer contact with housing staff.
"As we're not building in Cornwall at present, transferring our tenants to another high performing association like Devon & Cornwall makes sense for us and paves the way for our tenants to access better services."
Two Sovereign staff will also transfer to Devon & Cornwall as part of the agreement.
Sanctuary Housing Group acquired Ashley Homes from Shaftesbury Housing for an undisclosed sum. The deal, which comprises the purchase of Shaftesbury's supported housing division and their 37 care homes, will see Sanctuary's supported housing accommodation increase by over 500 units and its care bed portfolio increase by over 1,000 units. The majority of these units are in the South and East of England.
The acquisition bolsters Sanctuary's already diverse business portfolio and reinforces its position as one of the country's largest housing associations - the Group now has over 52,000 homes in management across the UK.
Following extensive consultation, the entire workforce of Ashley Housing - almost 1,500 strong - transferred to Sanctuary under TUPE arrangements.
Waveney Council's tenants rejected proposals to transfer their homes to a new housing association (70% against the proposal on a 79% turnout).
