Manchester City Council selected IT specialist Comino to support the automation of its Housing Department. The £3.3 million project will include Comino's Universal Housing suite, transactional (back office) housing, Workflow, Electronic Document Management, and Contact Manager.
West Dumbartonshire Council signed a contact worth more than £100,000 with Comino to provide a software package to help manage documents and information in its Housing & Council Tax Benefits Department.
Grove Village, which is the preferred partner for work on the Plymouth Grove housing private finance initiative in Ardwick with Manchester City Council, has agreed to finance the provision of low-cost wireless broadband connections for all local tenants. Consortium members will provide the projects £35,000 start-up costs, which will also eventually lead to the establishment of a community-based website.
The ODPM admitted it was unable to say when its new MoveUK website is to be launched, due to delays in development stages. Scout Solutions Projects are spearheading the £17 million seven-year contract, to provide a website service that will assist families in moving to other parts of the UK and securing employment there; the online service will also provide other important information about health services and similar. It was originally planned to launch the service early in 2005, but software problems have caused troublesome delays.
