Housing Corporation Board Changes
The Government announced three
new appointments to the Board of the Housing Corporation:
- Candy Atherton, who has a PR consultancy in Cornwall and is a
Parliamentary Consultant. Ms Atherton began her career as a journalist and has been a councillor for Islington BC and a Member of Parliament. She
has worked on various schemes for tenants, young offenders, and homeless people.
- Kate Barker, who has been a member of the Bank of England
Monetary Policy Committee since 2001. Ms Barker is also an advisor to the Government on UK housing supply policy. She led on the Review of Housing
Supply, commissioned by the Government and published in 2004. In the past, Ms Barker has also been Chief Economic Advisor at the CBI, on the board of
the Yorkshire Building Society, and Chief Economist for Ford of Europe.
- Donald Hoodless, who retired in June 2005 from his role as Chief
Executive of Circle 33 Housing Trust and is currently Chair of the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospitals Trust, and Chair (designate) of Skills for
Care. Until recently, he also chaired the G15 - an informal group of the 15 largest housing associations in London. Mr Hoodless's other roles
have included Chief Executive of Notting Hill Housing Trust.
The new members replace Yvonne Hutchinson, Ivan Monckton, and Andrew
Winckler who stepped down on 30 September 2005.
In addition, Shaukat Moledina (Deputy Chair), Sheila Drew Smith, Sandi O'Neill, and Julie
Fawcett, whose terms of appointment also ended on 30 September 2005, have each been re-appointed for three years from 1 October 2005.
On
the Move
- Abigail Ellis was appointed Head of Property and Asset Management at Thames Valley HA. She was previously Asset Manager
at Circle Anglia.
- Ruth Cooke was appointed Group Director of Resources at Arcadia HG. She moves there from her position as Chief Finance
Officer at Anchor Trust.
- Jon Cross became the new Commercial Director at Heart of England HG. He moves there from Oxfordshire
Co-operative Development Agency, where he was Chief Executive.
- Louise Fletcher-Chard was appointed as Director of Business Development at
Staffordshire HA. She was previously External Projects Manager at Staffordshire University.

Orkney HA announced that Sally Inkster
would be elevated from Deputy Executive Director to Executive Director when the current post holder, David Murdoch, retires in May 2006.
The
Scottish Federation of Housing Associations announced that David Murdoch had been elected as its new Chair, replacing the Acting Chair, Bob
McDougall.
- Sandy Milroy announced that he is taking early retirement from his post as Chief Executive at Ark HA's.
- Hereward Housing announced that Mark Newstead is to be its new Director of Business Development. He has been Development Director at Hanover
HA.
- The new Director of Housing & Health at Three Rivers Council is Patrick Odling-Smee, who moves there from his current post as Head of
Housing & Environmental Health at North Hertfordshire Council.
- Sanctuary HA appointed Tower Hamlets LBC's Director of Community
Housing, Sharon Standell, as its new Regional Director for London.

Chester-le-Street DC announced that Paul Stephens would take
over as Head of Housing Services. He joins the Council from Home Group, where he has been Housing Manager.
The Council also appointed
Richard Humphrey as Head of Property Services. He was previously Construction Group Manager at North Tyneside MBC.
- Orbit HA
appointed Birmingham Women's Hospital Associate Director, Deb Sutton, as its new Operations Director for the Midlands and the
West.
