Ministerial Reshuffle

Key ministerial changes affecting housing were:

John Prescott remains at the helm at the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, but takes on the added role of representing the UK on diplomatic business abroad.
David Milibrand becomes Minister of Communities and Local Government. His brief covers all aspects of the ODPM and his first task will be to carry out a review of the Government's housing and regeneration programmes.
Yvette Cooper was promoted from her previous role as Junior Housing Minister to Minister of State for Housing and Planning. Her portfolio will include the Thames Gateway and growth area. She also takes on responsibility for the market renewal pathfinders, and gypsies and travellers. Junior Minister Baroness Andrews will support her on housing matters.
Phil Woolas was appointed Local Government Minister. His brief includes supporting people, neighbourhoods, and local government efficiency and finance.

On the Move

Declan Carroll was appointed Chief Executive at Cara Irish HA. He was previously Head of Housing & Support at Central & Cecil.
Zurich Municipal, provider of insurance and risk management to the public services, has promoted Andrew Jepp to a newly created role of Head of Housing. Having worked for Zurich Municipal for 23 years, his new role will see him provide strategic and operational leadership to a new dedicated Housing Team.
Hardeep Majhail was appointed Head of Housing Services at Acton HA. His previous employment has been with East Thames HG, Ealing Family HA, and Guinness Trust.
Jenny Mayne joined South Norfolk Council as Head of Strategic Housing. She moved there from her previous role as Area Services Manager at Bristol CC.
Colin Moone will move from his role as Assistant Director of housing at Brent, having been appointed Head of Housing at Waltham Forest LBC.
