Barnabas House, which runs three refuges in Kings Lynn for homeless 18 to 30 year-olds, is likely to lose grant support from Norfolk Council. Seemingly, the Christian-run organisation is insufficiently inclusive of those of other faiths.
The homelessness charity Crisis announced it would be setting up a new policy and strategy unit. Shelter also revealed it was looking at its roles and priorities, following concerns about how its income was spent.
Several councils were reported to be introducing a local connection rule, which would effectively force supported housing providers to bar some rough sleepers from night shelters. Fears that Supported People budgets will be under pressure have led, in some areas, to the introduction of rules that restrict access to night shelters if a strong local connection cannot be shown.
The Scottish Executive issued revised guidance on the provision of services to homeless people. The code provides guidance on meeting Scotland's 2012 target that anyone who is not intentionally homeless will be offered permanent accommodation.
