The
Barnet Council arms length management organisation (ALMO) Barnet Homes entered into a strategic partnership arrangement with the contractor United
House, to undertake a £65 million refurbishment programme. More than 6,000 homes will be improved over the next six
years.
Birmingham Council announced that it plans to spend over £50 million on providing more than 500 new homes of mixed tenure and
bringing homes on its Egg Hill Estate up to the Decent Homes Standard. The programme will be partly funded from disposal of more than 34 acres of
development land in the area.
Westminster City Council's arms length management organisation, CityWest Homes, was reported to be
setting up its own in-house estate management and maintenance services. Current contracts are due to finish and some will not be put out to tender.
One expectation of the new internal service is that it sets benchmarks.
